THE DESIGN PLAN

My clients love to cook and as their friends are always in the kitchen with them at dinner parties, it was key to include the kitchen in the great room.

After our first meeting, I suggested we gut the entire house in order to move room locations to allow for great entertaining and open style living.

The floors were not salvageable, so we chose a rich dark hardwood to showcase all the white woodwork.

The main criteria was a very large island and lots of seating. We gutted out a back patio space and broke through the house wall to be able to relocate the kitchen and make it much larger. We were also able to add more windows which made the whole main floor living space feel light and airy.

I made provision for a window seat in the larger kitchen window for extra storage as well as additional seating. Gorgeous fabrics in white, steel and yellow add a contemporary pop of style as well as some warmth to the custom window treatments, bench seat cushions and throw pillows.

The basement was an unfinished space and as the husband was a professional lacrosse player this was to become his man cave!

A sofa in tomato red and a feature wall painted in a rich British racing geen livened up the space. The Lacrosse Pro's collection of lacrosse sticks were displayed on the wall opposite the red felt covered pool table.

One of the best parts of this projects was the honor to decorate this wonderful couple's first baby's room.

BLAND TO GLAM CLIENT APPRECIATION

"Di Barker was amazing!  We gutted and remodeled our entire home and she came highly recommended. She assisted with everything from the layout, custom upholstery, kitchen design, custom closet designs, exterior and interior colors, and more.

Di even assisted with holding our contractors to nothing but the highest standards, as well as the littlest of details, such as finding the perfect towels and accessories for every room.

We have since relocated across the country and when our house went on the market the feedback was outstanding on everything from the color choices to the smallest details .... all thanks to Di.

Not only was she outstanding .....  she was a joy to work with!

I truly believe it was her talented eye that helped us gain top dollar in our sale."
