A Custom Collaboration with Gucci

My successful young clients purchased this beautiful 7,600 sq ft mid century modern home in Ridgefield, Washington. My brief was to pay homage to the Hollywood Regency style of its incredible architecture, and introduce loads of lavish glamour in an elegant and youthful way, that wasn't too serious or stuffy.

As this was my clients' first home purchase, and they were starting with no furniture or accessories, I wanted to create a lived in luxurious space that felt as if they had amassed all their pieces over numerous years, and from various parts of the globe during all their exciting travels.

Hollywood Regency is all about entertaining and open floor plans. To honor the style of this spectacular home, I introduced sumptuous rich textures and lavish details, along with lacquered surfaces, stunning statement furniture pieces, lots of crystal, spectacular chandeliers, luxurious textiles such as velvet, silk and fur, a daring mix of animal prints, as well as dramatic fringing and interesting sculptural accessories.

My clients fell in love with some Gucci armchairs but wanted them as breakfast room chairs.  Sadly, Gucci only offered these at armchair height.

"My clients ask .... and they shall receive!"

I contacted Gucci with our request, and worked with their factory in Italy to custom make 8 dining chairs at the correct dining height.  The fringing screamed Hollywood Regency, as did the stunningly gorgeous lipstick red GG velvet, and let's not forget how perfectly they compliment the framed pair of Botero's!  The pedestal table base was previously in a taupe concrete, so I had it finished in a black lacquer and highlighted it in gold leaf.  The chandelier was originally finished in a verdigris green, so I amped up the glam volume and gold leafed the entire chandelier.

I turned up the glam volume even more in the formal dining room, and wallpapered a wall in metallic Martyn Bullard, Cole & Son, Hollywood palm wallpaper and gold leafed the recessed ceiling. An oversized crystal drop chandelier from Italy punctuated the ceiling perfectly, and set the scene for the Christopher Guy custom dining table, carved tree dining chairs and tall host chairs covered in a luxurious Scalamandre velvet.  (If you've ever enjoyed lunch at Harrod's in London you will recognize the criss cross legs of the signature CG chairs.)

It was just as important to glam up the outdoor spaces and embrace the 180 degree views of the majestic Cascade Mountain range and dramatic close-ups of Mount Hood, Mount St Helens and Mount Hood. With horses on the property and my clients'' passion for Ferrari's, I was inspired to pay homage to both and introduce spectacular life sized equine sculptures in the manicured gardens.
